HYANNIS – The 2015 Hyannis HyArts Shanty season continues through September 27 at Bismore Park off Ocean Street on Hyannis Harbor and the town of Barnstable is already preparing for the 2016 season.
The town is currently accepting applications from artists and artisans interested in participating in the program next year.
The HyArts Shanty program began in 2005 to provide opportunities and exposure for local artists, help the economic climate in downtown Hyannis and establish a backdrop for residents and visitors.
Applications should be submitted by Friday, October 23.
The artists will then be juried and first selections will be made by December 31.
A variety of work is represented at the shanties including jewelry, paintings, photography, visual art, wood carving, Cape Cod inspired crafts, ceramics , glass work and more.
Literary arts are also represented and local libraries participate in the program each year.
The Shanties are open weekends from mid-May through mid-June and then 7 days a week through the end of September.
