Many seniors spend the first phase of their retirement on Cape Cod, living independently and working to maintain good health in order to fully enjoy their early retirement years.

Exercise, time spent in nature, taking up new interests and activities keep Cape seniors’ busy learning and growing.  Many Cape seniors have very active lives and are transforming the experience of aging in their own way every day.  There also many Cape seniors who are still looking for inspiration and motivation to take better care of themselves and their health.
That’s why Hebrew SeniorLife is bringing their “Healthy Living, Healthy Aging” program series to Cape Cod this April, May and June at senior center locations in Mashpee, Hyannis and Orleans. As the only senior healthcare organization in the country affiliated with Harvard Medical School, Hebrew SeniorLife’s geriatric physicians and researchers will present the latest information designed to educate and engage seniors on maintaining their physical, mental and spiritual wellness. This series of three programs are all free with prior registration and are open to all Cape seniors.
Hebrew SeniorLife, the largest senior healthcare and housing non-profit organization in Massachusetts, is committed to inspiring all seniors to transform the experience of aging as they live, grow and interact with their world.

Hebrew SeniorLife’s mission is to help all seniors rethink perceptions about aging, rediscover every senior’s potential and redefine the experience of aging. Hebrew SeniorLife has coined the word “ReAge “to represent a new approach to the aging process – and reimagining what else is possible.
“We’re looking forward to bringing our doctors and researchers to share some of the latest information in geriatric medicine and research with Cape seniors, “said Jane Baker, Hebrew SeniorLife Community Marketing Specialist. “Our goal is to educate, engage and encourage Cape seniors that there is much within their own power to improve their quality of life – physically, mentally and emotionally.”
When seniors living in retirement on the Cape do decide that they want more activity, socialization and support in their lives, Hebrew Senior Life’s Orchard Cove community in Canton is a continuing care retirement community that could be the answer.

In a continuing care retirement community, residents not only have beautiful homes in a vibrant, engaging community. Most significantly, they have access to a full spectrum of services and support that offer continuity of healthcare, encourage prevention and emphasize wellness. The on-site medical practice, led by Harvard Medical School trained geriatrician Dr. Jennifer Brinckerhoff, specializes in the healthcare of older adults.
A former Cape resident who moved to Orchard Cove in 2012, said while it was difficult to part with some possessions in downsizing, “I now have a rich, exciting life where I’m expanding my social circle and stimulating my mind through activities with others”. Another resident who relocated from the Cape also said “We moved to Orchard Cove to be closer to our kids but I still drive or take the transportation available to get to the Cape. I have the best of both.” Orchard Cove’s location just off Route 128/95 offers easy access to and from the Cape and the greater Boston area.
Active seniors never lose sight of their goals in life, even as they may change over time. Orchard Cove’s Vitality360™ program plays a major role in helping to guide and inspire every resident to live their best life possible.

Seniors who come to Orchard Cove from the Cape find an environment where they can continue to lead an active, busy life of learning and personal growth without the worries of maintaining a home.
