SAGAMORE BEACH – One person reportedly nearly drowned in the water off Sagamore Beach late Saturday afternoon. According to reports, a kayaker ran into distress off Phillips Road shortly before 5 PM. The victim was reportedly a Good Samaritan who tried to reach the kayakers who were being blown offshore. He was rushed to Beth Isreal Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. One of the kayakers, reportedly a child, was also evaluated for hypothermia. Despite warming (at times) air temperatures, the water remains only in the low 50s and hypothermia can set in quickly.
