BREWSTER – A fully involved car fire closed Route 6 between exits 11 and 12 Monday evening. An off-duty Truro police officer came upon the scene about 8:30 p.m. and called for help. The driver was able to escape safely but the fire was so intense traffic had to be halted in both directions until firefighters could arrive. The fire was under control in about a half hour and the road was reopened to traffic in about an hour.
