Updated 4 PM: Gusty winds fell tree limbs causing scattered outages, ocean effect snow causing slick spots

CAPE COD – Gusty winds caused tree limbs to fall creating scattered power outages Wednesday morning. Eversource was working outages in Osterville and Mashpee. In Barnstable, Old Jail Lane was closed due to a tree down with wires across the road.

Meanwhile, ocean effect snow is falling especially on the outer Cape. Motorists headed to Christmas gatherings are urged to slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.

Shortly after noon, a downed wire temporarily closed a section of Lower County Road in Dennis.

4 PM update: Large tree reported down in Sandwich in area of Boardley Road and Great Hill Road. 1,320 Eversource customers without power. Crews working on that and several other scattered outages. Eversource hoped to have the Sandwich outage restored by 8 PM.

Wellfleet and Woods Hole reported 51 MPH wind gusts.
