BOSTON – A new book written by a bestselling author from Cape Cod that chronicles the phenomenon of the Ice Bucket Challenge will be launched at an event in Boston Monday night.
Casey Sherman’s book “The Ice Bucket Challenge: Pete Frates and the Fight Against ALS,” details Frates battle with the disease and the rise of the viral social media initiative that has raised more than $220 million for ALS research since 2014.
Frates and his family will attend the book launch at Fenway Park, along with Sherman, Boston mayor Marty Walsh, Bruins legend Ray Bourque, former Red Sox infielder Lou Merloni, and comedian Lenny Clarke. The event is planned from 6 to 9 p.m.
50 percent of the proceeds of the books sold at the launch celebration will go directly to Frates’ care.
