Chatham Town Meeting Voters Breeze Through Warrant

Chatham Selectman Seth Taylor at Monday night’s town meeting

CHATHAM – Chatham town meeting voters moved quickly through their annual town meeting warrant Monday night, completing all business in just over two hours.

Without any significant debate, a $30 million operating budget for the next fiscal year was approved. Voters also said yes to spending $31 million for additional sewer expansion.

Chatham residents bucked the trend of other towns and turned down a ban on recreational marijuana shops.

In other action, they approved a 25-year inter-municipal agreement that will allow Harwich to send wastewater to Chatham’s existing facility.

Several capital projects that will enhance and upgrade Chatham’s waterfront were also approved, including repairs at Ryder’s Cove and fish pier.
