BREWSTER – A Brewster voter who accidentally left his dentures behind at a polling station during Tuesday’s election has been reunited with his teeth.

Town Clerk Colette Williams said volunteer staff found the set of false teeth during a sweep of the voting booths at the Brewster Baptist Church. That’s when she enlisted Brewster Media Services Coordinator J.P. Ludwig to use social media in the search.

“I just thought, I know dentures are rather expensive, that we had to get word out there. And so our media guy tweeted it out and it went on from there,” Williams said.

A short time later the unidentified man returned to retrieve the teeth. They were apparently only temporary dentures and fell out of his pocket while he was voting.

“Before the close of polls, the gentleman came back and retrieved his teeth,” said Williams.

The town clerk says finding dentures in a polling place “is a first” in Brewster.
