FALMOUTH – Falmouth Police report that on Monday at 5:52 PM, the Falmouth Police and Falmouth Fire Rescue Department were dispatched to 167 East Falmouth Hwy for the report of a bicyclist struck by a motor vehicle. The motor vehicle involved was a 2018 Subaru Outback operated by a 73-year-old East Falmouth woman. She along with her passenger were uninjured in the crash. The bicyclist was identified as a 49-year-old East Falmouth man. As the result of his injuries, he was transported by Boston MedFlight to Rhode Island Hospital. The crash investigation revealed the bicyclist was intoxicated, did not have the required lighting on his bicycle and was riding down the middle of the poorly lit section of roadway prior to being struck. He will be cited for violations of the Massachusetts Bicycle Safety Laws.
