FALMOUTH – The Falmouth Police Department is pleased to announce their participation in the Safe Sale Program. The program is designed to ensure a safe and secure meeting place for residents to meet strangers and complete online transactions.
While the Falmouth Police Department cannot guarantee the quality of items purchased online, the Department is offering a safe, secure, public meeting place to conduct the transaction.
Under the Safe Sale Program, Falmouth residents and business owners who wish to complete an online transaction in person—like a Craigslist purchase–can arrange to meet the other person in the front parking lot of the Falmouth Police Department. The police department is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year and the transaction may be recorded by one of our surveillance cameras. This added security provides a level of protection that most public meeting places cannot.
Please note that an officer will not be on hand for transactions. However, the location and video surveillance should prove to be a crime deterrent.
The popular practice of purchasing goods online and completing transactions in person can create an uncomfortable and even dangerous environment. The Falmouth Police Department hopes that residents will take advantage of this new program to help keep themselves safe.
