CENTERVILLE – Visitors to Craigville Beach in Centerville this season will notice many improvements to the bathhouse.
The facility, which was originally built in 1920, has been renovated and features a new main entrance, bathrooms and outdoor showers.
Barnstable’s Assistant Recreation Director John Gleason says it’s important to make sure the town as top notch facilities.
“In today’s market there are so many choices people can make,” Gleason said. “They could a little bit farther than us and stay in Dennis and decide to stay in their hotels and use their beaches.”
The renovation kept the original look of the exterior. On the inside, the changing rooms have been turned into bathrooms and the former bathrooms will become training rooms for staff and storage areas.
“It should be ready for the season, at least the bathrooms and outdoor shower should be new,” Gleason said. “It should be a great project for the people to come see.”
The footprint of the original building could not be expanded so the modifications had to be made using the existing facility.
