HYANNIS – Dedication ceremonies at the Barnstable Little League’s replica field of Fenway Park have been postponed from Saturday until Father’s Day due to expected rain.

However, the regularly scheduled games will still begin at 10 a.m.

League president Joe Scott said the goal of building the field was to generate interest in baseball among younger kids.

The field, which includes the iconic green monster and other features of the famous Boston baseball park, will be used for 7- and 8-year-olds in Farm League.

“The result is our farm numbers are way up. They are higher than they’ve ever been,” Scott said. “We bought a bunch of extra jerseys and we filled just about every one of them.”

Scott said things are looking good for Barnstable Little League. The Farm Leaguers will also sporting recognizable names and uniforms after an agreement was made with the Cape Cod Baseball League.
