Barnstable County Commissioner Sheila Lyons
BARNSTABLE – A democratic candidate for the Cape and Islands State Senate has received an endorsement from the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Organization for Women Political Action Committee.
Mass. NOW is supporting Sheila Lyons, a current county commissioner.
“Sheila will use her deep commitment to and understanding of government’s role in addressing inequality and injustice,” said Nancy Rosenblum and Donna Denoncourt, co-chairs of Mass. NOW. “She will bring a strong and persistent voice for all women.”
Lyons and Julian Cyr are vying for the democratic nomination.
Jim Crocker and Anthony Schiavi are running as republicans.
State Senator Dan Wolf is not seeking re-election.
The primary election is September 8.
