BOURNE – A boat caught fire in the Cape Cod Canal about noon. The approximately 30 foot fiberglass cabin cruiser Marianne out of Boston had smoke showing from the engine compartment. The people on board were rescued by other boats. The Sandwich fire boat along with vessels from onset, the Coast Guard and commercial vessels converged on the scene as the vessel went on the rocks on the south side just East of the Bourne Bridge. Bourne fire units also fought the blaze from alongside the canal. The fire was under control shortly after 12:30 PM and salvage efforts were underway. No injuries were reported.
