Upper Cape Power Outages Leaves Thousands in the Dark

EversourceSANDWICH – About 10,500 Eversource customers lost power in the Upper Cape this afternoon.

Eversource Spokesperson Margaret Coughlan said the cause was a secondary breaker fail in Sandwich.

The incident happened around 4:45 p.m., but the energy company had restored power to around 3,000 homes by 5:30, according to Coughlan. Most of the outages occurred in Sandwich, but Mashpee, Falmouth and Bourne were also affected.

She said further repairs would continue into the night, and expects full power to be restored between 8 and 10 p.m.
