HARWICH – A major water main break and a car vs pole crash in Harwich had traffic at a virtual standstill. A 12 inch water main burst on Route 28 at Brooks Road around 11:30 AM.
Route 28 was closed between Lothrop Road and Sisson Road. Brooks Road is closed between Route 28 and Lower County. Water Service was also reported out in the area. The road did not reopen until 8:45 PM.
A short time later a Ford Explorer struck a utility pole on Pleasant Lake Avenue (Route 124) near Prince Charles Drive. The pole was snapped. The driver was not seriously injured. Route 124 was closed between the Brewster town line and Long Pond Drive.
Traffic was gridlocked by the two road closures.
