HYANNIS – At about 5:30 PM Friday, there was a head-on crash between a Jeep Compass and a Toyota Avalon on Route 28 near Spring Street in front of Kappy’s Liquors in Hyannis. A third vehicle reportedly struck the rear of the Jeep and had very minor damage. A Sandwich ambulance happened to be passing by at the time of the crash, called it in and began patient treatment until Hyannis rescuers could reach the scene. Four people were transported to Cape Cod Hospital with unknown injuries. Two others were treated at the scene but declined to go to the hospital. The crash caused major traffic delays in both directions on Route 28. Barnstable Police are investigating the crash.
