ORLEANS – Old Station Nauset on Coast Guard Beach in Eastham is a familiar sight but only a few have had the opportunity to visit the inside of the building and learn about its history.
That will change on Saturday when the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary conducts an open house as part of its 78th anniversary celebrations.
The public is welcome to go inside the building, meet members of local Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotillas and also talk with personnel from the Cape Cod National Seashore, which now administers the building.
The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Coastie the Safety Boat will be making a special appearance.
The robotic boat talks and can engage in two-way conversations with visitors about safety on the water.
