BOSTON, MA – From State Rep. Will Crocker: Barnstable Police Officers Wanessa Pizaia and Jian Barcelo were recognized as part of the Latinx Excellence on the Hill ceremony at the Massachusetts State House on Tuesday October 2, 2018. Nominated by State Representative Will Crocker, the officers were acknowledged as being the first naturalized citizens to serve on the Barnstable Police Department. “I am incredibly proud of these two outstanding individuals. Their work in our community is unmatched and through their example, they serve as role models to the children in our local Brazilian community,” said Representative Crocker. Latinx Excellence on the Hill is a celebration of Latinx culture, excellence, and achievement in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The event was organized by the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus.
