HYANNIS – The price of gas continues to fall in the Bay State ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
AAA Northeast reports that the average price of a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded fell another 3 cents over the past week to $2.74.
That price is 13 cents lower than it was 5 weeks ago, but is still 18 cents higher than a year ago. The national average is nine cents lower.
“The 48.5 million Americans taking to the nation’s roads this Thanksgiving will be thankful for the lower prices at the pumps,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director of Public and Legislative Affairs. “When it comes time to fill up during the trip, motorists should keep in mind that prices along heavily-traveled routes might be more expensive than in-town.”
Prices on Cape Cod range from $2.59 to $2.95 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com.
