HYANNIS – Federal and state regulators are again holding public comment periods for the proposed offshore wind development off the coast of Massachusetts known as Vineyard Wind.
The U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has released its Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) establishing a preliminary assessment of the impact of the project.
The Bureau is accepting public comment on the DEIS until January 22.
Massachusetts is engaged in its review of state portions of the project and will be accepting comment through the Massachusetts Environmental Protection Act (MEPA) review.
The MEPA office will be accepting public comment on the Final Environmental Impact Report until January 25. MEPA review pertains specifically to the grid connection cable and other aspects of the project within the state of Massachusetts.
Public comment will be held On Tuesday, January 8 at the New Bedford Whaling Museum; Wednesday, January 9 at Narragansett Town Hall; Tuesday, January 15 at the Hyannis Doubletree Hotel; Wednesday, January 16 at the Nantucket Athenaeum, and Thursday, January 17 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center.
