JFK Hyannis Museum to Remain in Downtown with 20-Year Lease Renewal

KA_Hyannis_JFK museum_11315HYANNIS – The JFK Museum, situated in the old town hall on Main Street, will stay in that location for the next 20 years.

Barnstable Town Manager Tom Lynch said the town sent a request for proposals after the current lease expired, and the museum was the sole bid.

In his report, Lynch called the bid “highly advantageous” to the community.

Museum Executive Director John Allen said they were excited to remain in downtown Hyannis.

“From an economic point, we’re an important part of Main Street, Hyannis,” Allen said. “In many ways, we feel we’re Main Street, Cape Cod.”

He said the 20-year lease would give them the opportunity to expand their ever-growing lineup.

This year, programming was expanded into Falmouth, Chatham and the Islands, while the flagship location brought in over 61,000 visitors according to Allen.

The museum’s last day of the season falls on November 30th.
