WELLFLEET- Wellfleet Police are investigating a pair of crashes early this morning that took place in the same location.
Around 12:55 a.m., Police responded to the intersection of Cahoon Hollow Road and Ocean View Drive after a Jeep Grand Cherokee struck a tree.
The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage.
The male driver, 22-year-old David Kupershmidt of Watertown, CT was taken into custody and arrested for allegedly operating under the influence of alcohol.
He was not injured in the crash and there was no roadway closure during the accident.
A short time later, around 1:20 a.m., police responded to another crash down Cahoon Hollow Road near Old County Road.
A 2007 Honda Pilot struck a tree, but the two occupants fled the scene before police and emergency personnel arrived.
At this time, the accident is still under investigation.
There was no roadway closure due to the accident.
a report of a vehicle striking a tree at the intersection of Cahoon Hollow Road and
Ocean View Drive. Upon arrival, officers observed a Jeep Grand Cherokee with heavy
front end damage off the roadway. The operator, David KUPERSHMIDT age 22 of
Watertown, CT was the only occupant of the vehicle. KUPERSHMIDT refused medical
treatment and after an on scene investigation KUPERSHMIDT was placed under arrest
for Operating under the Influence of Alcohol. There was no roadway closure due to the
accident.
Approximately twenty five minutes later at 0119 hours, officers responded to another
motor vehicle accident on Cahoon Hollow Road near Old County. Upon arrival, officers
discovered a 2007 Honda Pilot in the woods with damage and learned that the two
occupants had fled the scene. Witnesses at the scene advised officers the two occupants
left in another vehicle that picked them up. At this time, the accident is still under
investigation. There was no roadway closure due to the accident.
