FALMOUTH – A gas main was ruptured in a construction zone in downtown Falmouth shortly after noon. The incident unfolded in front of 850 Main Street (Route 28). Firefighters used hoses to dampen the fumes down. Police detoured traffic around the scene and the immediate area was evacuated. It took National Grid about an hour to secure the gas so the area could be reopened.
