Officers in Bourne multi-shooting incident honored

BOURNE
– The Massachusetts Police Association held its annual award ceremony today for officers who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty or have shown extreme courage and bravery while putting their lives in danger to protect the life of another. It was an honor to be in the presence of such brave officers who are the epitome of honor, integrity, and courage in law enforcement.

Of those honored for their actions were 10 officers from the Bourne Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts Environmental Police, and Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department who exhibited bravery and courage in the face of extreme danger on the morning of February 5, 2015 when officers responded to a double shooting that subsequently turned into an ambush on police. Officers from the Bourne Police Department who were honored were, left to right, Officer Andrew Lieberwirth (Medal of Valor), Detective Sergeant John Stowe (Medal of Valor), Sergeant Wallace Perry (Medal of Valor), Officer Joshua Parsons (Medal of Valor), Officer Jared MacDonald (Medal of Valor), and Officer Jeff Lanoie (Medal of Merit). Officers from other agencies honored with the Medal of Honor for this incident were MA State Troopers Matthew Croteau, Jeremy Lockwood and Nathan Monterio and Barnstable County Sheriffs Deputy Pat Martin.

The Bourne Police Department is extremely proud of each of these officers for their heroic actions.
