YARMOUTH – A vehicle caught fire at a Yarmouth auto repair shop. Firefighters rushed to Transmission Specialists at 188 Route 28 around 4:45 PM Monday.
Route 28 was closed in the area and motorists should seek alternate routes.
From Yarmouth Fire: At 5:37 PM, the Yarmouth Fire Department received 911 call from an employee at Transmission Specialists at 188 Route 28 report a car fire. Additional calls and information from Yarmouth Police on scene reported the fire had extended into multiple vehicles and involved the structure. The first engine on scene transmitted a working fire assignment, with smoke and fire showing throughout the building. Firefighters aggressively attacked the fire and it was brought under control. Removing the vehicles involved in the fire proved to be difficult, but successful thanks to the assistance of Mid Cape Collision and their expertise. There were no injuries to civilians or first responders. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
