BARNSTABLE – Power outages have increased on Cape Cod during the course of the day, even as NStar says they have worked to restore power throughout the region.
Over 17,000 of NStar customers in the Cape’s 15 towns are without power as of 4:30 p.m.
While earlier today nearly all of Provincetown—more than 5,500 customers—were in the dark, about 1,000 have had their power restored over the past couple of hours. About 34 percent of Truro homes, or about 1,000 customers, are without power.
Over 1,300 customers were out of power in Hyannis, an improvement from 3,000 outages have been reported earlier this afternoon.
Throughout the region, NStar has announced that it has restored power to 25,000 customers.
On Cape Cod, at 9:30 a.m., there were just under 10,000 outages on the Cape. As of 4:30 p.m., there are more than 17,000 without power in the Cape’s 15 towns.
