EAST FALMOUTH – Young students from across Cape Cod showed off their musical knowledge Wednesday at the Cape Symphony and Conservatory’s Annual Music Memory program year end concert.
The event was livestreamed from the Cape Cod Church in East Falmouth to schools around the Cape.
This year’s concert featured musicians from the Cape Symphony and the Cape Conservatory Cjazz students.
“I’m hoping that it will light a fire of passion and appreciation in students for the rest of their lives,” said Director of Community Education George Scharr. “We know that the way things are introduced and the way they’re presented to all of us as human beings stays with us as a life-long impression.”
The concert also included three additional feature pieces which were played from start to finish.
The top three teams in the 3rd to 4th grade student division were from Teaticket Elementary School in Falmouth, Eddy Elementary in Brewster and Mullen Hall Elementary in Falmouth.
The top three teams in the 5th to 6th grade student division were from Wellfleet Elementary, Eddy Elementary and Barnstable Intermediate School.
Scharr said that having a musical education is important for the students.
“Art is what makes us human, and music makes us better listeners, it makes us better thinkers,” said Scharr.
