EASTHAM – Applications are currently being accepted by the Community Development Partnership for an affordable rental housing lottery in Provincetown.
The lottery is for three one-bedroom condos at the Grace Gouveia Building, currently under construction at 26 Alden Street. The state requires a lottery to fill the three condos deemed affordable for the initial time.
CDP Executive Director Jay Coburn said the build is also in response to a growing need for one-bedroom affordable rentals in Provincetown.
“I think there’ll be a great demand for these units,” Coburn said. But, he said, “The first thing to do is to figure out whether or not you qualify.”
These rentals will have a maximum income restriction of 80 percent of the area median; about $44,000 for an individual and $52,000 for a couple, according to Coburn.
He said there’s also a minimum income requirement of around $32,000.
All of the units are priced at $977 per month plus electricity, between 600 and 700 square feet with washer and dryer included.
The lottery, which will determine the order in which eligible applicants are reviewed, will be held at the Provincetown Public Library on Thursday, November 12th at 10 a.m.
Applications are due by October 14th at 3 p.m.
They can be picked up at CDP, 3 Main Street Mercantile, Unit 7 in Eastham and for download at www.capecdp.org
