FALMOUTH – Three licenses have been transferred to the new owners of the Coonamessett Inn and were approved recently by selectmen in Falmouth.
Lark Hotels has signed a purchase and sales agreement with current owners Bill and Linda Zammer and the sale is expected to be finalized in mid to late February.
All common victualler, entertainment and alcoholic innholder licensed were transferred to the company.
“The plan of the new owners is to operate the Coonamessett Inn as is for the first season, all the staff that’s there that wants to come back will continue to be employed, we’re not seeking any changes in the license and we’re not seeking any changes in the hours of operation,” said Mark Gildea, the attorney representing Lark Hotels.
Lark Hotels operates 20 hotels in California and New England, including three on Martha’s Vineyard and two on Nantucket.
Gildea said that after the first season, Lark Hotels will make improvements to the property.
“The new owners are going to make their own mark on the Coonamessett Inn and they will do so gradually over the next couple of years,” said Gildea.
The town was considering the purchase of the Coonamessett Inn last year to turn it into a new senior center, before Lark Hotels purchased the property.
The Zammers have owned and operated the Inn since 1996.
