Grants Awarded for 250 Youth Summer Jobs in Massachusetts

BOSTON (AP) — The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office will award $300,000 in grants to more than 50 organizations around the state to fund youth summer jobs.

The funding will increase youth employment in low socio-economic communities and allow teens to hold jobs that focus on healthy activities. The grants will fund 250 jobs.

The jobs that will receive funding include: teaching low-income youth about nutrition and how to maintain a healthy diet; teaching or coaching rowing, sailing, hiking, swimming or weightlifting classes for low-income youth; assisting in teaching healthy cooking classes for senior citizens; and running workshops on violence prevention and mental health for low-income youth.
