Lt. Gov. Announces Tornado Relief Loans for Cape Businesses

Karyn Polito

YARMOUTH – Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito announced Tuesday that $1 million would be made available for loans to Cape Cod businesses following multiple tornadoes that impacted the area last week.

The loans, which are immediately available, range between $5,000 and $50,000.

“They’re flexible, they’re meant to provide resources to these businesses,” Polito said.

“Over the first 30 days, there will be no payment needed, and then at 3% interest attached over the life of the loan.”

In the aftermath of the tornadoes, Polito expressed the importance of getting local businesses any necessary help.

“We need to make sure that people know that the Cape is literally open for business,” Polito said.

“That there are sunny skies and lots of things to do on the Cape, but that this is a region that is safe, and open, and available…”
