PROVINCETOWN – The Provincetown Film Society will honor two famous directors at this summer’s Provincetown International Film Festival.

Two-time Academy Award-winning Director of films like Life of Pi and Brokeback Mountain, Ang Lee, will be given the 2016 Filmmaker on the Edge Award.

Lee will accept the distinction in conversation with director John Waters on Saturday, June 18th.

Lee, who is currently producing his next feature Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, will be honored for his “command of craft,” according to festival director of programming Andrew Peterson.

Previous recipients of the award include David Cronenberg, Darren Aronofsky, Quentin Tarantino, Mary Harron, Todd Haynes, Gus Van Sant and Christine Vachon.

Additionally, the filmmaker Effie T. Brown, known most recently for Dear White People, will host the third annual Evan Lawson Filmmaker’s Brunch on Sunday, June 19th.

The brunch acts as a fundraiser for the Gabrielle A. Hanna Film Institute, which brings filmmaking opportunities to underrepresented media artists.

The festival begins June 15th and runs through the 19th.
