FALMOUTH – A Mashpee woman was chosen by the Wampanoag Tribe over the weekend as this year’s Powwow Princess.
The honor went to Ciara Jackson, 20, during the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s 95th Powwow Celebration at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds.
Jackson was chosen for being active in her community, having a strong knowledge of the tribe’s history and culture and participating through dance at previous powwows.
She will take over princess duties from Forestdale teenager Abigail Peters.
