NANTUCKET – The Nantucket Historical Association has announced that the fall 2015 Food for Thought lecture series will continue every Thursday from November 5 through the 19th.
The free community program is presented from noon to 1 p.m. at the Whaling Museum on Broad Street.
The lecture series features presenters from Nantucket and beyond.
Speakers include local authors, photographers, and representatives of businesses, organizations and public-interest groups who provide engaging lectures on timely topics that are aligned with Nantucket’s rich culture.
Audience members are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch while listening to the informative lectures.
“Food for Thought provides a fantastic opportunity for Nantucket residents to learn more about the island and one another,” said NHA Director of Visitor Experience Marjan Shirzad. “It is so rewarding to be able to offer Nantucketers a free, lunch-time community program on a wide range of topics from history to the arts, music to nutrition, right in the heart of downtown.”
The Food For Thought lecture series began in the fall of 2006 and is an integral part of the fall and spring programming schedule at NHA.
On November 5, photographer Eric Savetsky will share examples of his portfolio in a segment titled “Seasons with the Humpback Whale”.
On November 12, Nantucket Preservation Trust Executive Director Michael May takes participants on an exploration of some of Sconset’s most remarkable cottages, and on November 19, Interior Designer Audrey Clark will discuss her work and development process in “Pattern, Painting and Design”.
