Wellfleet Conservation Trust Hosting 13th Annual Guided Walk

WELLFLEET – The Wellfleet Conservation Trust will be hosting its 13th annual guided walk entitled “Three Great Ponds”.

It has been a tradition since 2007, and features naturalists and other local experts who will share their knowledge about the history, geology, and ecology of the area during the walk.

Topics of the walk include the Council on Aging, the Community Garden, the Municipal Water System’s pumping station, the old Boy Scout Camp, and the discontinued Wellfleet firing range.

The walk will also take participants around the three “great ponds” of Wellfleet; Duck, Great, and Dyer, alongside Grass and Turtle Ponds.

The event is Saturday, September 7 at 9 am and will start at the Wellfleet Council on Aging at 715 King’s Highway.

The walk is over 2.5 miles in length. It is expected to not take longer than three hours.

Participants should expect sandy roads, narrow paths, and little paved trails. Walkers will be offered the opportunity to leave the walk early at multiple locations.

Participants should visit the WCT website for more information and postpone notices.
