Crews work off Gifford Street on the project to install at water filtration plant.
FALMOUTH – Construction of the new water filtration plant is underway in Falmouth.
Crews have excavated about 46,000 cubic yards in the 13-acre site off Gifford Street and have installed an electrical duct bank and a water main. Falmouth Department of Public Works Director Raymond Jack updated selectmen on the progress of the project at a meeting last month.
The $49 million project has a completion date of summer 2017 and is currently on schedule, Jack said. Work began in late April.
Work is also underway on the large-scale sewer project connecting more than 1,400 homes to the new plant. Three crews are installing the lines.
