YARMOUTH – Property owners in Yarmouth will see a tax increase next fiscal year after a vote at town election last night.
Yarmouth residents approved a Proposition 2 1/2 override to fund the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District budget. The override allows the town to assess nearly $324,000 more in property taxes.
“We appreciate the voters of the town of Yarmouth supporting the school budget and the override. It’s a big step forward for our district in maintaining the things that we have for the students,” said D-Y Regional School Committee Chairman Brian Carey. “It’s a competitive market and each district tries to stay one step ahead of the other and at the same time provide an excellent education and make all of our students college and career ready.”
The average homeowner in Yarmouth will now pay about $60 more per year in taxes.
