The population of Cape Cod skews more to an older demographic and whether you are retiring on the Cape or have your parents visiting, these are some activities you should consider and could recommend your friends and family!

Exercise

Getting out and about can be a great way to not only stay healthy, but also enjoy the beautiful Cape Cod landscape. Whether you walk along the beach or join an exercise group, the choice is yours. Exercising in a group is also another way to socialize with your neighbors.

There are a number or organizations around the Cape that run exercise programs depending on the time of year. A number of gyms and health clubs also have pools which are worth checking out and can typically be used all year long. Going golfing can be fantastic when the weather is right and is also another alternative to get out and about while having fun with friends and family.

Museums and Libraries

The Cape is fortunate enough to have many libraries and museums throughout its towns and villages. Going to a library not only gives you access to a large number of books and other reading material, but they are also host many gatherings and some great activities to enjoy with others from the local area.

The museums on the Cape can provide a nice opportunity to bring the grandkids to see a variety of exhibits. Go and learn about pirates or explore the wildlife of Cape Cod, there are plenty of choices to choose from!

Performing Arts & Live Music

Looking for something to do in the evening? Head over to one of the local playhouses and check out what production is on stage! There are also a number of outdoor free concerts that happen on the Cape in the warmer months. This can be a great opportunity to see some of the members of the local community displaying their talents and you may even see someone you know in the process!

Volunteer

Contributing to your community can be not only a fun activity, but also a rewarding one. Many groups and organizations could use the help around the Cape. Volunteer work can help you make new friends and reconnect with old ones! Be sure to get in touch with your local senior center to see if they have any volunteer positions as well!
