Baker Nominates Lawyer With Cape Ties to Superior Court

MASHPEE – A lawyer with ties to Cape Cod has been nominated to the superior court by Gov. Charlie Baker.

Mark Gildea is now subject to approval by the Governor’s Council. He has been practicing law for 30 years and works for the Clark, Balboni, and Gildea firm, which operates an office in Mashpee.

Last year, he was one of the attorneys who represented former Mashpee Schools Superintendent Brian Hyde during his trial for breaking and entering and trespassing at a student’s home. Hyde was acquitted.

Gildea, a resident of Bridgewater, serves as an attorney for the Town of Bridgewater, the city of Brockton, and Plymouth County.

Gildea was one of two attorneys nominated for judicial positions by Baker. The Governor also tapped Mark Goldstein for a position in Worcester District Court.

“Throughout their careers these attorneys have been dedicated not only to the law, but to their communities in the Commonwealth,” Gov. Baker said. “I am pleased to nominate these two highly qualified attorneys for review by the Governor’s Council.”

Gildea is a 1987 graduate of Suffolk University School of Law.
