Pleasant Bay Community Boating Offering New Student Summer Programs

NORTH CHATHAM – Students on Cape Cod have the opportunity this summer to combine the fun and adventure of sailing with learning about marine life and science, technology, engineering and math.

Pleasant Bay Community Boating is offering several new summer science programs held over one or two weeks or by the day.

The two week “Art and Joy of Fly Fishing” program begins later this month. Students will be able to learn the skills needed to fish by fly, along with sailing and motor boating on Pleasant Bay.

Two more one-week programs will be held in August.

“Fins, Whiskers and Claws: The Lives and Haunts of Marine Animals in Pleasant Bay” will allow students to join Center for Coastal Studies scientists to explore the diverse marine wildlife and habitats within the bay.

Students will also be able to explore the “Wild World of Wind, Waves and Water” on land and sea and includes sailing on the bay and investigating the Chatham Marconi Center Museum.

All one- and two-week programs are for students entering grades 4 through 10.

Other one-day programs include exploring Muddy Creek and a class connecting sailing with STEM disciplines.
