ONSET – A three-alarm fire tore through several buildings in the Onset section of Wareham sometime after 3 PM Thursday afternoon. Firefighters from Bourne also responded to the scene on Bedard Road off Onset Avenue. At least two houses were heavily involved and a third damaged. The fire was in a remote area on a marsh and an area of brush was also on fire prompting a call for brush breakers to respond also. A Wareham DNR marine unit also fought the flames from the water. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Meanwhile, Bourne Firefighters also responded to cover Plymouth while firefighters there responded to 80 Warren Avenue in their town to find fire through the roof of a 3700 sq ft home. There was a partial collapse. All members were accounted for. Companies were on scene actively working, chasing hot spots and overhauling.
