FALMOUTH – A proposed Habitat for Humanity development in Falmouth is receiving push-back from members of the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals.
The project would include 12 single family ranch-style homes on a cul-de-sac to be built on 5.5 acres at 0 Barrows Road.
The proposal already has the support of Falmouth Selectmen and the town Planning Board, but Zoning Board members had a number of suggestions for project officials to consider.
The board mentioned that a bus stop would be nice, and that a covered bus stop would be nicer. They would like to see the addition of a sidewalk, maybe a playground, and certainly more parking.
“I don’t know the history of shelters in Falmouth” said Habitat attorney Warren Brodie, “Certainly we could provide a paved area where students could wait for a bus, we are wary of shelters as places that promote criminal activity.”
Once completed, the 2 and 3 bedroom homes will be sold at 65 percent of median income in Barnstable County.
