CAMP LEJUNE, NC – From Yarmouth Police: West Yarmouth residents Maureen Tuohy Bedford and Warren Bedford are on their way back today from their goodwill journey from Yarmouth to Jacksonville, North Carolina after delivering over 200 items to the children and families of United States Marines stationed at Hurricane Florence torn Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.

The Bedford Family–whose son Evan served bravely in combat in Afghanistan in the United States Marine Corps—organized the special Halloween event and collected all of these items at their home and here at YPD Headquarters.

  • 200 Pumpkin-Pails filled with Candy and Treats
  • Halloween Costumes
  • Party Goods
  • 4 Large Bags of Halloween Candy for the Marines
  • Backpacks
  • New Cold Weather Gear

All of the items were donated by Yarmouth citizens and other local organizations and business groups such as the Yarmouth Rotary and the Nicholas G. Xiarhos Memorial Foundation and made their way to the 2nd Battalion 8th Marine Regiment consisting of 1,000 infantrymen known as ‘America’s Battalion’ at Camp Lejeune thanks to Maureen and Warren who rented a vehicle and made the 2 day trip and Camp Lejeune Marine Corp Supporter and former Cape Cod resident Monica Kelley who helped put it all together.
