Substitute teacher from Forestdale convicted on 5 counts of indecent A&B on a child under 14

SANDWICHFrom Sandwich Police: Blake Rider of Forestdale Ma, has been found guilty on five counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a child under 14 after a jury trial yesterday.

This case began on February 23, 2017 when three victims, who are juveniles, came forward with allegations of these assaults. After an extensive investigation by Sergeant Lauren Gilrein and Officer Christa Cabral, Blake Rider was charged with ten counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child under 14 and three counts of Reckless Endangerment of a Child. The alleged incidents date back to September 2010.

Blake Rider was formerly employed by the Sandwich School District from 2009-2015 as a substitute teacher and tutor. After a four day trial, he was found guilty on five counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child under 14. Blake Rider was sentenced by Judge Lisa Edmonds to two consecutive 2 ½ year terms for a total of 5 years in the House of Correction. This is concurrent with 8 years’ probation, remain alcohol free, sex offender counseling, no contact with victims, no employment or volunteer work with children, GPS device, and will have to register as a sex offender upon release.
