Early morning blaze heavily damages house in Falmouth

FALMOUTH – Falmouth Fire-Rescue reports that at approximately 3:06 AM Tuesday morning, E20, E24, E25 and L26 were dispatched to 2 Sycamore Street for a building fire. First arriving units encountered heavy smoke and fire showing from an unoccupied 2 story home. An attack line was advanced to the rear of the building where the crew began to knock down the fire. A 2nd alarm was struck, bringing E22, E23 and a Mashpee Engine to the scene. Additional attack lines were advanced to the interior, where crews encountered a stubborn fire traveling throughout many concealed spaces. The fire was knocked down in about 45 minutes. Joint Base Cape Cod, Bourne and Cotuit Fire Departments provided station coverage and responded to multiple calls in Falmouth during this incident. There were no injuries, and the fire is believed to be accidental. The American Red Cross also assisted at the scene.
