Falmouth Museums to Host ‘An Olde Country Christmas’

FALMOUTH – Falmouth Museums on the Green will present “An Olde Country Christmas” on Friday, December 6.

The event features readings from Washington Irving’s Christmas essays and seasonal songs and refreshments.

The essays, first published in 1820, are based on the holiday festivities and traditions Irving enjoyed while representing his family’s import-export business in England. The stories are told from the perspective of a fictional English gentleman, Geoffrey Crayon.

Reverend Will Mebane Jr., Carol Casey, Len Miele, Meaghan Quinn, Dan Tritle and Annie Hart Cool of Falmouth will be the readers.

Stephanie Miele, accompanied by Jennifer Rossiter, will perform seasonal songs.

“An Olde Country Christmas” is part of Falmouth’s Holidays by the Sea weekend and will be held in the Museum’s Cultural Center.

It runs from 6-8 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
