FALMOUTH – Falmouth Police reports that on Friday, Falmouth High School received a bomb threat at 1:31 p.m. by phone. School officials immediately notified the Falmouth Police Department. All students, faculty and staff were immediately evacuated. The timing of this event was closely aligned to the school’s regular dismissal, so buses were organized in stages for a safe and orderly release. Backpacks and jackets were visually inspected prior to students boarding the busses to ensure they were not placed at additional risk. School officials in conjunction with the police learned additional information of similar events in other communities as the incident unfolded, and the team adjusted its response accordingly. The school facility was cleared by a search conducted by law enforcement and school officials and assisted by police K9s trained in explosive detection. The safety of the students was always the focus of police response.
