Sign up for Sheriff’s Youth Academy in Barnstable or Falmouth

BOURNE
From Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office: Sheriff James Cummings has announced his popular summer youth academy schedule.  In addition to the usual Barnstable location, a second location in Falmouth has been added.

“Through the Sheriff’s Youth Academy, we are providing the youth of Cape Cod with a positive atmosphere designed to promote responsibility, instill life skills, and build character” commented Sheriff James Cummings.

The Hyannis site will again be at the Barnstable County Fire and Training Academy off Mary Dunn Road.  The new, second academy will convene at Falmouth High School on Gifford Road.

The 12 to 16-year-old Cape youth who sign up for Falmouth will attend every Monday and Tuesday from July 8th to July 30th.  The hours will be 8:30 AM to 1 PM and students must arrive promptly and bring their lunch.

Those who opt for Hyannis will attend every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from July 10th to August 2nd from 8:30 AM to 1 PM. Arrival and lunch requirements are the same.

The mix of discipline, physical training and classroom instruction provides an opportunity for the youth who attend to enhance self-control, engage in team building exercises and increase good decision making skills.
