YARMOUTH – During a special ceremony at Yarmouth Police Headquarters Friday night at evening shift roll call, the men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department and family and friends will officially recognize the last shift and retirement of Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Sergeant Walter R. Warren, Jr.
Warren has spent 37 years of part-time and full-time service to the department.
He began his career with the Yarmouth Police Department as a Summer Reserve Police Officer in June 1980 and since then has served in many capacities. Some of them were:
- Patrol Officer
- Patrol Sergeant
- Motor Vehicle Enforcement Team Officer
- Field Training Officer
- Detective Rotator
- Crash Investigator
- Citizen Police Academy Instructor
- School Resource Officer
- Yarmouth Police Department New Headquarters Building Committee Member
- President of the Yarmouth Police Relief Association
In addition to attending numerous local and national specialized training programs, Sergeant Warren has also earned two college degrees:
- Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College
- Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Bridgewater State University
Warren has served with pride and devotion and has been awarded over 30 Official Awards and Commendations.
